"It would kill the creativity of the scene,".......The Heroine producer

"Heroine" makers go to court over government order for anti-smoking messages

The makers of Bollywood film Heroine, starring Kareena Kapoor, on Monday moved the Delhi High Court against the information and broadcasting ministry's order to display anti-smoking messages during smoking scenes in the movie.

The film is scheduled to be released on September 21.

Justice Rajiv Shakdher issued notice to the information and broadcasting and health ministries and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and sought their responses by September 10.

The information and broadcasting ministry said on August 2 that films that have smoking scenes should start with a 20-second warning on smoking hazards.

According to the ministry's letter, producers have to shoot the 20-second message on the actor seen smoking in the film, repeat it in the middle of the movie and also have a static message on the screen during the entire length of a smoking scene.

"It would kill the creativity of the scene," the film producer said.

UTV said that the production house had been burdened with the "unreasonable and arbitrary requirement" to display a message during smoking scenes.

My marriage is now a debate in Rajya Sabha: Kareena Kapoor

"It's a male dominated industry. One Dirty Picture and a Heroine can't change the tide. It's not the actor alone but even the director needs to change his mindset," Kareena said.

And regarding the tired question on the big fat Kapoor-Khan wedding the actress had a rather humorous take on it.

"It's a Rajya Sabha debate. Everything I do, becomes a national issue, I could well be married you know. How would that make a difference? I could have been married three years ago and still done a Heroine. But yes you will know when I do," the actress said.

Bebo is rather upset about A certificate films not being allowed to telecast. She says if foreign movies can be viewed on TV then why not Hindi films.

With Heroine all set to release on her 32nd birthday she has close competition with cousin Ranbir whose Barfi! releases a week ahead of her film.

And it seems the Kapoor cousins will soon be sharing screen space. "Yes it's in the pipeline," she said.

And why should we go watch Heroine? For three things, piped in director Madhur Bhandarkar: "Kareena Kareena Kareena."
